About the Role
As we launch the Centre for Advanced Oncology (CAO), a pioneering state-of-the-art facility in Sharjah, we seek a visionary Head of Radiotherapy to build and lead our flagship radiotherapy department. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for establishing clinical protocols, managing cutting-edge technology (including LINAC, IGRT, VMAT, and SRS/SBRT systems), and ensuring world-class radiation treatment delivery. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for establishing clinical protocols, managing cutting-edge technology (including LINAC, IGRT, VMAT, and SRS/SBRT systems), and ensuring world-class radiation treatment delivery. You will shape CAO’s radiotherapy services from the ground up, driving excellence in patient safety, treatment accuracy, and team development while embedding our core values of compassion, innovation, and cultural sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage the radiotherapy team (Radiation Technologists, Oncology Nurses, Medical Physicist).
- Oversee daily operations of the radiotherapy unit, ensuring efficient, safe, and patient-centered service delivery.
- Develop, implement, and audit clinical protocols, workflows, and quality assurance programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to international safety standards (e.g., IAEA, JCI) and UAE regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists on complex treatment planning and delivery.
- Manage departmental budget, resource allocation, and equipment maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and integrate evidence-based best practices.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration with medical oncology, imaging, and nursing teams.
- Lead staff training, competency assessments, and professional development programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for radiotherapy-related clinical and operational matters.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or Radiography; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: Valid national/international licensure in Radiation Therapy (Eligible for UAE MOH/DoH/DHA license).
- Minimum 8 years of clinical experience in radiotherapy.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a radiation oncology department.
- Proven expertise in advanced radiotherapy techniques (IGRT, VMAT, SBRT/SRS).
- Experience with LINAC operation, QA protocols, and radiation safety management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in radiotherapy information systems (RIS) and treatment planning systems (TPS).
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional team-building, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Strategic mindset with operational excellence focus.
- Compliance: Thorough knowledge of radiation protection regulations and international quality standards.
- Soft Skills: Patient-centric approach, cultural sensitivity, adaptability in a startup environment, and fluency in English (Arabic advantageous).
