Advanced Oncology Centre is a state-of-the-art ultramodern outpatient facility
located adjacent to the Sharjah Healthcare City (SHCC), bringing top-of-the-line
cancer treatment to the doorstep of the people of the UAE.
A brainchild of Al Fardan Holding, the Emirati promoter and head of the
project, Advanced Oncology Centre has been designed as a dedicated facility
for high-quality cancer treatment, equipped with the world’s most advanced
equipment and manned by elite oncology experts and care-givers.

The longterm goals of CAO include providing attractive medical tourism programs, building strong bonds with charitable cancer societies to reduce patients’ financial burden and ensure sustainability by encouraging patients to undertake their treatment within the country.
Cancer: UAE Snapshot
Cancer is the second leading cause of deaths in the UAE. In total, the disease accounts for 15 15% of deaths. A May 2021 study reveals that almost half of all cancer cases in the UAE involved people aged under 50. The percentage of all cancer cases is significantly higher compared to the corresponding age groups in the UK, US, Canada, China and India. Factors like poor lifestyle habits, inactivity and diet are major contributors, and more screening and awareness of symptoms are needed to rectify the alarming situation.
History
CAO is the newest addition to the UAE’s cancer care landscape. The first cancer treatment was set up in 1979, and was followed by the opening of Al Mafraq Hospital in 1983 and launch of oncology services in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in 2005. The Gulf International Cancer Center (GICC) was opened in Abu Dhabi in 2007. Now, Centre for Advanced Oncology will open a new chapter when it is commissioned in 2022.
